Harper College defeated Triton College

Set 1:  Harper College started out on the right foot with a 9-0 lead behind setter Taylor Pfaller's (/St. Viator) serves.  Then, Harper and Triton played evenly to 16-7, and then to a 25-16 Harper win.  Setter Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 8 assists; but the story was her serving – she was 9 of 10 serving with FIVE aces!  Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.), playing middle had 3 kills on 4 attacks.  Kelsey Bauer (/Palatine H.S.), also playing middle added 2 more kills. 

Set 2:  This set started out at 5-5.  Harper fell behind 6-10 and 8-13, but eventually tied the set at 17-17.  Harper fell behind again 17-22.  Harper's comeback, which included some nice serves from Jules Carusiello (/Hersey H.S.) tied the score at 24-24… until she missed a serve.  At 25-25, Harper substituted in Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) to serve and she delivered with 2 points on 2 serves, including an ace on game point to win this exciting set.  Setter Kathleen Alimorong (/Hoffman Estates H.S.) had 8 assists, and was 5-5 serving with 2 aces.  Exactly like the first set:  Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.), playing middle had 3 kills.  Kelsey Bauer (/Palatine H.S.), also playing middle added 2 more kills.  Ashley Rothenberg (/Streamwood H.S.), playing outside hitter had 7 digs and 2 kills.  Defensive Specialist Jules Carusiello (/Hersey H.S.) was 8 of 9 serving with 2 aces.  Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.), playing middle had 3 kills on 4 attacks.  Kelsey Bauer (/Palatine H.S.), also playing middle added 2 more kills.  Libero Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) had 6 digs.  In this set, Harper had 14 hitting errors and 3 missed serves.

Set 3:  Harper took a 7-5 lead, despite hitting 3 attacks out-of-bounds.  Harper pushed the lead to 17-11 on the way to a 25-15 win.  Libero Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) had 6 assists.  Outside hitter Rugile Jaciunas (/Wheeling H.S.) led Harper with 4 kills.  Ariell Davis (/Buffalo Grove H.S.), back to playing middle had 2.5 blocks.  Ashley Rothenberg (/Streamwood H.S.), the other middle had 3 blocks and a kill.  Setter Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) was 6-6 serving with 2 aces, and outside hitter Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) was 7-7 serving with an ace… and a kill!

Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) led Harper with 7 aces for the match on 18-19 serving.  And Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) led Harper with 9 digs.  Ashley Rothenberg (/Streamwood H.S.) led Harper with 3 blocks, and Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) led Harper with 6 kills.
