Hawks Run Strong at Bradley Pink Classic

Peoria, IL: It rained all morning and afternoon for the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday. Luckily, the Hawks were in the first two races of the day so the course wasn't a complete slip 'n slide for them. In a field made up of NCAA DI, DII, and DIII teams, the men finished 11th of 17 and the women finished 12th of 19. Both the men and women were the top NJCAA team in the race.

Men
The men's team was led by freshman
Konrad Jakubowski. Jakubowski finished 65th overall and was the first NJCAA DIII runner. He broke 27:00 for the first time running 26:53. Followed closely behind was Owen Whelan finishing 76th with a time of 27:07.

Marcos Jaimes, Jason Schmidt, and Eric Martinez finished the scoring for the Hawks. They finished in 103rd, 111th, and 117th with times of 27:51, 28:05, 28:16. This was a huge personal record for Martinez.

Jose Morales and Matt Trybus both broke 30:00 running 29:12 and 29:52. Harry Carr ran just over that mark running 30:06.

Jose Guzman, Carter Swearingen, and Edwin Amaro all also had personal records, running 31:20, 31:30, and 33:19. Christopher Gama also raced and finished with a time of 34:26.

Women
The women's team was led once again by sophomore
Lilly Alberts. Alberts finished 2nd overall with a time of 22:06. This was a huge personal record for her and a big step forward in her cross country racing. Her time marks as the fastest 6k time in team history and is the fastest NJCAA DIII time this year.

Claudia Wojciechowski was the second runner for the Hawks, as she has been all season. She finished 88th overall and was the third NJCAA DIII runner to cross the line. She ran a time of 25:16. Kaili Decker wasn't far behind as she has been all progressing steadily through the season. She finished 101st overall and was the fourth NJCAA DIII runner to cross the line with a time of 25:33. This was a personal record for Decker.

Rounding out the scoring for the Hawks was
Kasey Ledinsky and Brianna Ruiz. Ledinsky finished 120th with a time of 26:40 and Ruiz finished 133rd with a time of 27:46.

Other Hawks that raced were

The Hawks are still ranked first nationally for both the men and women.

Their next race will be the Region IV Championship on Saturday, October 28th, at the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course.
