Harper College and Kishwaukee College traded blows on Wednesday in a back-and-forth affair, with Harper College eventually claiming a 21-15 victory.
Justin Gadomski (Schaumburg, IL/Schaumburg High School) collected five hits in six at bats to help lead Harper College to victory. Â Gadomski
tripled in the third, singled in the fifth,
tripled in the seventh, singled in the ninth, and
homered in the ninth.
George Betevis (Hanover Park, IL/Bartlett High School) went 4-5 on the day with a double, inside the park homerun, and
five stolen bases. Betevis also tagged up and scored on a pop up to the shortstop, but was later called out when the umpire determined he left early after an appeal. (

The Hawks started scoring from the opening frame when
Ehinger Adrianza (Miami, FL/Felix Varela Senior High) tripled to drive in
Nic Castrovillari (Hanover Park, IL/Bartlett High School). Adrianza then scored on the first of two RBI doubles by
Michael Budorick (Glenview, IL/Glenbrook South).
Harper was down 14-13 in the top of the ninth inning, but the Hawks sent 12 hitters to bat in the frame. Gadomski and Budorick led the inning off with back to back singles, and then advanced to second and third on a wild pitch.Â
Micah O'Neal (Forest Park, IL/Guerin Prep High School) then singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs and sparking the Hawk fireworks. Betevis then hit a sinking line drive into centerfield that rolled all the way to the fence after the Kishwaukee outfielder attempted to catch it, this allowed him to circle the bases in 15.64 seconds for the inside the park four bagger!Â
Castrovillari continued the onslaught with a two run double down the left field line to score
Kyle Odeshoo (Arlington Heights, Illinois/Prospect High School) and
Cole Ratliff (Palatine, IL/Fremd High School).
It was only fitting that Gadomski put the
punctuation point on the day with an absolute missile that sailed way over the left centerfield fence to complete the huge comeback inning.
Castrovillari, Adrianza, Gadomski, Budorick, Betevis, and
Justin Cappis (Chicago, IL/Niles North) all recorded multiple hits on the day.
Stevie Churak (Fox River Grove, IL/Cary Grove High School) started on the mound for Harper College. Churak allowed eight hits and nine runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one. He was relieved by Connor Fitzgerald (2.1 IP) and
Brandon West (Chicago, IL/Lake View High School), who earned the "W" in 3 innings of work, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 4.
The Hawks will be busy this weekend, as they play a double header at Waubonsee on Friday, followed by back to back home double headers against Milwaukee Area Tech (Saturday) and Sauk Valley (Sunday).
Notes: Gadomski's five hit day raised his team leading batting average to .438. He also leads the team in triples (4), homeruns (3), RBI (27), and walks (14).
George Betevis' (Hanover Park, IL/Bartlett High School) five stolen base game now gives him a team leading 20 on the season in just 22 games.
