Appleton, WI: The Harper women's cross country team continued its strong fall season on Saturday at the 14th Annual Gene Davis Invitational, hosted by Lawrence University at Reid Municipal Golf Course. The women's 6k began at 11 a.m. on a fast, open, and flat course (ideal conditions for strong times).
Both Natalia Pocica and Kasey Ledinsky delivered standout performances, each recording their best marks of the season. Pocica placed 42nd overall out of 96 runners with a time of 26:03, while Ledinsky followed close behind in 51st, running a season-best 26:25.
Following the race, Ledinsky shared that the performance unfolded exactly as she had envisioned. "I wanted to go out faster than I have been and try to maintain," she explained, noting that she was able to hold her pace until slowing slightly in the final mile. "Things clicked right from the gun," she added, believing that this race marks "a turning point in the season" for her.
The Hawks will return to action on Friday, October 17, at the Bradley Pink Classic, hosted by Bradley University at Newman Golf Course in Peoria.
