Hawks Finish Strong in Pink at Bradley Classic

Peoria, IL: The Harper men's cross country team capped off its regular season with a solid showing at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon at Newman Golf Course in Peoria. The Hawks, racing in new pink singlets, placed 7th out of 18 full teams on the championship-level course that has hosted the NCAA Midwest Regional and Missouri Valley Conference Championships.

Ryan Golden once again led the Hawks, clocking in at 26:34 to finish 43rd overall in the 221-runner field. Golden has now been the Hawks' top finisher in every meet this season. Fellow freshman Sebastian Welc continued his strong campaign, taking 65th with a time of 27:13, while Jerome Graessle secured his usual third position for Harper, running 27:30 for 73rd place.

Michael Johnson finished fourth for the Hawks in 28:43 (110th), and Nate Larsen rounded out the scoring with a 29:59 (145th). RJ Moniri and Sean Burke completed the top seven, running 30:08 and 32:15, respectively.

Despite not quite matching last week's historic marks, the Hawks held their own against top competition including a tight matchup with Region 4 rival DuPage, who finished just behind Harper in 8th place. The Hawks and DuPage currently hold the top two national rankings in NJCAA Division III, with other Region 4 rival Joliet sitting third.

The Hawks now shift their focus to the Region 4 Championship next Saturday at the
Settler's Hill Cross Country Course in Batavia, hosted by DuPage.
