Hawks Sweep Trojans, Improve to 8-1 on Season

River Grove, IL: The Hawks continued their scorching start to the season with a dominant doubleheader sweep of the Triton Trojans on Friday at Symonds Puckett Field. This was a big matchup for the Hawks as head coach Dom Milano and assistant coach Mason Schaller both started their collegiate careers at Triton themselves. Harper took Game 1 in a hard-fought 5-3 victory before unleashing an offensive explosion in Game 2, cruising to a 14-4 win in five innings. The Hawks now sit at 8-1 overall and 6-1 against Region 4 opponents.

Hulligan Deals, Hawks Power Past Trojans

Mason Hulligan delivered another strong performance on the mound, earning his third win of the season—matching his total from last year. The right-hander struck out eight over six innings, allowing just one run. Zack Labrec shut the door in the seventh to pick up the save.

The Hawks' offense was fueled by extra-base hits, with
Michael Mango doubling, Kevin Geake tripling, and Spencer Geake launching a home run. Harper also applied pressure on the basepaths, swiping three stolen bases en route to the 5-3 win.

Hawks' Bats Explode in Five-Inning Rout
The Hawks wasted no time taking control in Game 2, piling up 14 runs to end the game in five innings. The long ball played a major role, as Harper crushed three home runs.
Nick Drtina had a monster game, hitting a home run, a triple, and driving in five runs. Geake went deep for the second time on the day, and Connor Kave added another homer to the total.

Ethan Dorka picked up his second win of the season on the mound, getting plenty of run support as Harper overwhelmed the Trojans early and often.

Fielding Improvement Sparks Continued Success
After a shaky defensive showing against Lake County, the Hawks cleaned things up in the doubleheader, committing just one error across both games. Improved defense has been a key factor in Harper's early-season success, and their strong showing against Triton was another step in the right direction.

The Hawks will look to keep rolling as they close out the week with another Region 4 doubleheader against Black Hawk on Saturday in Moline.
