Hawks Hold Steady in Latest Open Mat Rankings

Palatine, IL: The Hawks wrestling team maintained its strong national standing in the latest Open Mat rankings (Jan. 22–29, 2026), remaining 10th overall in the NJCAA and 2nd among non-scholarship programs, trailing only last year's national runner-up, SUNY Niagara. The Hawks also continue to hold the 15th spot in the team dual rankings, underscoring their consistency in both tournament and dual-meet competition.

Individually,
Truth Vesey (125 lb) continued his ascent, climbing to No. 2 in the nation, the highest ranking of his career. Vesey's strong performances through January have firmly established him among the top contenders for a national title at 125 pounds. Maguire Hoeksema (157 lb) and Aiden Cohen (165 lb) held steady at No. 9 and No. 6, respectively, both continuing to deliver consistent results against top-tier opponents. Joshua King (285 lb) also remained 7th nationally, anchoring the lineup with reliability in the heavyweight division.

With four wrestlers ranked inside the top ten of their respective weight classes and a solid team ranking, the Hawks remain one of the most competitive non-scholarship programs in the NJCAA as they close in on the postseason stretch.
