Men's Basketball Loses All Three Games Over the Weekend

Connor Miklasz had 16 points and five assists in the tournament finale.
FREEPORT, Ill. - The Harper College men's basketball team dropped all three of their contests at the William R. Bear Classic Tournament over the weekend.  The Hawks (5-7) lost to Lake Land College (5-4), Iowa Central (10-5) and Elgin Community College (5-7).
 
The Hawks lost to the Lakers 76-55 on Friday afternoon.  The team struggled shooting the ball, connecting on one of 15 three-pointers.  Kyler Market (Lombard, Ill., Willowbrook) paced Harper with 17 points on 7-12 shooting while Chris Hicks (Elk Grove Village, Ill., Elk Grove) and Simeon Handy (Chicago, Ill., Farragut Academy) each had eight.  Connor Miklasz (Mt. Prospect, Ill., Hersey) handed out five assists while Brian Battaglia (Elk Grove, Ill., Elk Grove) had four steals.
 
The Hawks dropped their second game of the day to the Tritons 70-63.  Hicks hit four three-pointers on his way to 16 points while Market chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds.  Battaglia contributed seven points and four assists and Miklasz had five assists.
 
In the tournament's final game on Saturday, Harper boasted four players in double-figures for scoring in a 69-66 loss to Elgin.  Miklasz led the way with 16 points and five assists.  Horace Grant, Jr. (Deerfield, Ill., Deerfield) scored 12 on 4-7 shooting and had 11 rebounds for a double-double.  Battaglia added 11 points while Market notched a double-double of his own with 11 points and 12 rebounds.  Jordan Mack (Hillside, Ill., St. Joseph) just missed a double-double with eight points and ten rebounds.
 
The team returns home for a brief two-game homestand next week with games against Olive Harvey College and Waubonsee Community College.
