JOLIET, Ill. – The Harper College volleyball team suffered a devasting loss on Tuesday night as fifth-ranked Joliet Junior College (20-6) beat the visiting Hawks in 5 games (28-26, 22-25, 21-25, 25-19, 14-16). The Hawks battled all night, trailing 2 games to 1 and winning the fourth game before being behind 8-2 in the fifth game and coming back to lead 14-13.
Sarah House (Crystal Lake, Ill., Crystal Lake South) (16 kills),
Lauren LaMasse (Hoffman Estates, Ill., Hoffman Estates) (13 kills) and
Liz Dotson (Palatine, Ill., Fremd) (11 kills) were strong on attack for the Hawks while
Andraia Leja (Crystal Lake, Ill., Prairie Ridge) was a perfect 27-for-27 on her serves with 7 aces.
Alyssa Cazzato (Bartlett, Ill., Bartlett) played a strong match for the Hawks at setter with 43 assists in addition to 14 digs.
Bolawa Gbadebo (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Thornwood/Hoffman Estates) (Hoffman Estates, Ill., Thornwood/Hoffman Estates) played well in the middle with 4 blocks.
Harper (20-7, 5-2 N4C) returns home for its next match as the Hawks host Triton College (2-10) on Thursday. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
