Harper Takes Fourth at Al Hanke Invite

Connor Infelise won the title at 133.
Faced with a difficult weekend after only six wrestlers made weight, the #11 Harper College wrestling team still placed fourth out of 11 teams on Saturday at the 30th Al Hanke Invitational at Elmhurst College.  The Hawks totaled 59 points, finishing just ahead of Concordia University (Wis.), who had 55.5 points.  University of Chicago, Elmhurst and MSOE were the top three teams.

A pair of Harper wrestlers took home individual titles at the tournament.  Conor Infelise (McHenry, Ill., McHenry) won at 133 after winning all three of his matches.  Infelise defeated MSOE's Austin Binish 6-1 in the championship match.  Curtis Blaydes continued his hot streak since joining the team, earning the title at 285.  Blaydes won all three of his matches, including the championship match against top seed Brian Brooks from Elmhurst.

The team returns to the mat this Saturday at the Border Brawl in Whitewater, Wis.  After this weekend's trip, the team will have home meets for consecutive weeks before getting ready for Districts and Nationals.
