Second Half Woes Leads to Loss

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – The Harper College women's basketball team held a two-point halftime lead, but they were unable to sustain that momentum in the second half in a 71-57 loss to Waubonsee Community College.
 
Harper (4-4) led Waubonsee (5-6) 33-31 at halftime, but the Chiefs outscored the Hawks 40-24 after intermission.
 
Nicole Soderholm (Buffalo Grove) played a solid all-around game with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.  Monica Hinderer (The Willows Academy) contributed 24 points and eight rebounds.  Sancha Ogden (Hanover Park, Ill., Hoffman Estates) added six points and eight rebounds while Jayna Rowland (Christian Liberty Academy) finished with seven points, five rebounds and four assists.
 
Soderholm knocked down six of the team's seven 3-pointers on her way to her season-high in points.  She has now scored in double-figures in seven of the team's eight games.
 
In her first career start, Ashley Packard (Buffalo Grove) didn't score but dished out five assists with only one turnover.
 
The Chiefs had four players in double-figures, led by Emily Magee with 20 points.  Waubonsee shot 44.8% (30 of 67) from the floor compared with 37.7% (23 of 61) for Harper.  The Chiefs also outrebounded the Hawks 40-33.
