ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Harper College men's basketball team played Rock Valley College even for one half on Saturday afternoon. The problem was that the Hawks were outscored by 13 in the first half on their way to a 82-69 defeat at the hands of the Golden Eagles.
Harper (9-19, 3-9 N4C) scored 48 points in the second half, in large part to their ability to get to the free throw line. The team made 18 of 22 from the charity stripe after intermission and shot 20 of 26 for the game.
Jordan Mack (Hillside, Ill./St. Joseph) paced the Hawks with 21 points and converted 7 of 8 from the free throw line. Horace Grant added 18 points thanks to four three-pointers while
Louis Erkins (Schaumburg, Ill./Glenbard South) hit on 6 of 8 from the field for 15 points off the bench.
Girbran Smith led Rock Valley (19-9, 8-4) with 25 points.
Up next, Harper will play their final home game of the season on Wednesday against Madison College (8-18, 5-7). Originally a 7:00 PM start, tipoff has been moved up to 6:00 PM.
