ELMHURST, Ill. – Led by three second place finishes, the Harper College wrestling team scored 83.5 points and placed fourth out of nine teams at the Al Hanke Wrestling Invite on Saturday, hosted by Elmhurst College.
Conor Infelise (McHenry, Ill., McHenry),
Blake Santi (Roselle, Ill., Lake Park) and
Steven Dewitt (Sterling, Ill., Sterling) all reached the finals of their respective weight classes while
Zach Hummel (Johnsburg, Ill., Johnsburg) and
Michael Summerville (Lombard, Ill., Glenbard West) each turned in third place finishes.
Infelise, who was the second seed at 125 pounds, won his first three matches before losing to Tyler Foley of Alma in the final. Santi took a similar path to Infelise in winning his first three matches before falling in the final to top seeded Ryan Earley of Elmhurst. DeWitt entered the tournament as the top seed at 157 pounds and won his first three matches before losing to Elmhurst's Nick DiNardo in the championship match.
Hummel won his opening round match at 133 pounds and after dropping his second match of the tournament, he rebounded to win his final three matches. At 197 pounds, Summerville lost his first match but regrouped to win three straight and take third.
Elmhurst won the meet with 127 points, barely edging Alma who finished with 126.5 points. Chicago was third with 111 points while MSOE was a distant fifth place behind the Hawks with 48.5 points.
