Sharp-Shooting Hawks Down Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Harper College men's basketball team kept their hopes of hosting a Region IV quarterfinal alive, shooting 48.3% from beyond the arc to rout Milwaukee Area Technical College 91-74.
 
Harper (11-16, 4-8 N4C) knocked down a season-high 14 3-pointers on 29 attempts.  Garett Gatz (Elk Grove Village, Ill., Conant) topped his previous high of six 3-pointers by shooting 7-for-10 from long range for a game-high 22 points.  Tyler Gaedele (Arlington Heights, Ill., Rolling Meadows) also sank four 3-pointers, giving him a team-leading 81 on the season.
 
Charles Wright (Cheyenne, Wyo., Cheyenne East) added a career-high 20 points for a Hawks squad that led 55-35 at halftime.  John Lorenz (Elk Grove, Ill., Elk Grove) played a solid all-around game with 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds.  Gaedele finished with 14 points and Connor Miklasz (Mount Prospect, Ill., Hersey) had seven points and five assists.  The team shot 55% from the floor, just missing their season-high of 56% set on Nov. 15 at McHenry County College.
 
The victory, coupled with College of DuPage's loss to Triton College, puts the Hawks in a tie for fourth place in the region with the Chaparrals with two games to play.  Harper will play Triton at home on Wednesday and finish with Madison on Saturday.
