PALATINE, Ill. - Going up against one of the nation's elite teams, the Harper College women's basketball team had several standout moments, but they weren't enough as the Hawks fell 87-29 to top-ranked Rock Valley.

Harper (7-11, 2-7) held Rock Valley (23-2, 9-0) to 3-of-13 shooting to open the game and stayed close at 8-4 thanks to a jump shot from Rachel Payne (Wheeling, Ill., Schaumburg Christian Academy) and a rebound and basket from Jennie Rebledo (Hoffman Estates, Ill., Fremd).  After a bucket from Monica Hinderer (Arlington Heights, Ill., The Willows Academy) with 14:33 left, the Hawks trailed just 14-6.  Hinderer's pass to Jayna Rowland (Arlington Heights, Ill., Christian Liberty Academy) cut the deficit to 20-8, but that was as close as Harper would be the rest of the game.  From there, Rock Valley embarked on a 24-1 run before Payne's four-point play ended the run.

Harper faced an uphill battle trailing 44-15 at halftime but had several highlights in the second half.  Rowland canned two jumpers and Payne had a spectacular no-look layup.

The Hawks forced the Golden Eagles into 22 turnovers.  Payne led the Hawks with 12 points while Hinderer finished with seven points and four rebounds.  Rowland added six points and a team-high six rebounds.

Shantiera Miller and Brianna Walker paced Rock Valley with 16 points apiece.
