Wrestling Competes at Coe College Invite

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Harper College wrestling team competed at the Coe College Invitational on Saturday. Kameran Hardwick (/Lake Park) had a strong day on the mat with a third place finish at 285 pounds.

Hardick started off the day by pinning Grand View's Chevon Okonoboh in just 28 seconds. In his next match, he defeated Missouri Baptist's Easton Simmons 10-4 to earn a trip to the semifinals.

In the semis, Hardwick was bested 6-3 by Coe College's Kirk Owens. He rebounded to win the third place match with a quick fall in 38 seconds over Simpson's Colby Villeger.

Freshman Cory Pych (/South Elgin) earned a sixth place finish by posting a 4-2 record in a talented 22-man field at 141 pounds. At 174 pounds, David Perez (/Larkin) went 2-2 and placed sixth.

The Hawks are off for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend but return to action at the Parkside Open on Saturday, Dec. 6.
