Box Score 2 PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College women's basketball team ran into tough two opponents, South Suburban College and Elgin Community College, in a span of four days. The Hawks lost 58-43 to South Suburban and 62-38 to Elgin.
Harper vs. South Suburban College
Despite a career-high 31 points from Joslyn Nicholson (/Cary-Grove), Harper (4-4) could not take down South Suburban. Nicholson was 10-of-22 from the field and 9-of-11 from the free throw line. She also had six rebounds and two steals.
The Bulldogs (6-2) had three scorers in double figures, including Mariah Middleton (17 points), Sherise Heady (13 points, 13 rebounds) and Citlale Lopez (11 points, eight assists).
South Suburban led 25-16 at halftime and shot 37.3 percent (22-of-59) from the floor. The Hawks shot just 29.3 percent (12-of-41) and committed 22 turnovers.
Harper vs. Elgin Community College
The Hawks (4-5) trailed 35-11 at halftime against the Spartans (7-3) and couldn't manage a comeback despite playing the hosts evenly in the second half.
Joslyn Nicholson (/Cary-Grove) led Harper in scoring once again with 13 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Nastia Solsaa (/Menomonie ) chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds, and Ashonte Sims (/Normal Community West) scored nine points. Clarissa Ramos scored a game-high 19 points for Elgin.
