Box Score DES PLAINES, Ill. – The Harper College men's basketball team continued its strong play on the road with a 77-65 victory at Oakton Community College on Tuesday evening.
The Hawks (5-6) shot an impressive 54.9 percent (28-of-51) for the game and connected on 10-of-19 3-pointers. Jamal Sherman (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Harper a 38-21 edge at halftime.
Oakton (4-7) hung in the game, playing a strong second half. The Raiders got to the foul line 28 times, making 22 of them. The Hawks were outscored 44-39 in the second half but held on for the win.
Admir Suljic (Chicago, Ill. /Lane Tech) led Harper in scoring for a fourth consecutive game, putting up 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Davion Benton (Chicago, Ill. /Alcott College Prep) posted his third double-double of the year with 16 points (7-of-9 shooting) and 12 rebounds. Sherman contributed 10 points and five assists, and Jalon Roundy (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) added nine points.
Mike Hoffman and Chris Medard paced Oakton with 17 points apiece. The Raiders shot 40.4 percent (21-of-52) for the game.
The Hawks will look to run their winning streak to three games as they travel to Champaign, Illinois on Saturday for a 4 PM game at Parkland College (7-3).
