Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Harper College men's basketball team had a tough time containing a high-octane Parkland College offense on Saturday afternoon. The hosts shot 57.7 percent (41-of-71) from the floor and won 100-66.
The Cobras (8-3) had nine players score seven or more points, led by Kamal Shasi's 17 points. William Gary added 14 points, and Corvon Butler scored 12. Parkland led 48-31 at halftime.
Harper (5-7) shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56) from the field and 63.3 percent (19-of-30) from the foul line. Admir Suljic (Chicago, Ill. /Lane Tech) scored a game-high 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Davion Benton (Chicago, Ill. /Alcott College Prep) posted his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Marcus Gatlin (Chicago, Ill./Curie) scored 10 points and dished out six assists. Robert Hudson (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Conant) also pitched in 10 points for the Hawks.
The Hawks return to their home court on Tuesday evening for the first time since Nov. 20 as they take on Illinois Valley Community College (5-6). Tipoff is slated for 7 PM inside the Wellness & Sports Center (Building M).
