Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. – Four Harper players scored in double figures, and the Harper College men's basketball team picked up their third consecutive road win with a 73-67 at Richard J. Daley College last night. The win was also the Hawks' fourth in their last five games.
Admir Suljic (Chicago, Ill. /Lane Tech) led Harper with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, and Jalon Roundy (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) scored a career-high 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Robert Hudson (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Conant) contributed 11 points, and Davion Benton (Chicago, Ill. /Alcott College Prep) added 10.
The Hawks (7-7) were in command throughout the first half. Marcus Gatlin (Chicago, Ill./Curie)'s free throws with 3:01 to play in the half gave Harper its biggest lead of the game, 39-21. The Hawks led 39-26 at the break.
Daley (0-13) opened the second half on a 14-6 run to cut the Harper lead to 45-40, but that was as close as they'd get. Suljic and Hudson back-to-back threes, and Hudson converted a pair of free throws to give the Hawks a 53-41 lead with 10:05 left.
The Bulldogs closed the gap to 61-55 with 2:51 left, but Suljic hit another big 3-pointer and followed it up by stealing a pass and converting a layup to extend the advantage back up to 11.
The two teams shot similar percentages from the floor, with Harper shooting 45.8 percent (27-of-59) compared to Daley at 43.8 percent (28-of-64).
The Hawks are back on the road for a Saturday afternoon game at Mid Michigan Community College (3-8) in Mount Pleasant, MI. Tipoff is set for 1 PM at the Morey Courts.
