PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper volleyball team extended its winning streak to five games with a straight-sets victory over Triton College, 25-11, 25-4, 25-8.

The Hawks (17-5, 4-2 N4C) pulled ahead 12-4 early on, when Triton (1-12, 1-5 N4C) chose to take a timeout.  Outside hitter Shannon Igielski (Streamwood, Ill/St. Edward) played an excellent set for Harper, hitting 10-of-10 with eight kills. Jillian Hoffman (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) also had a productive set with three kills, six assists, three digs and 7-of-7 serving.

Harper took a commanding 17-3 lead in the second set on strong serving by Lindsey Murphy (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Crystal Lake South) (10-of-10, five aces) and Sarah Berggren (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) (6-of-7, ace). Lauren Sokolowski (Rolling Meadows, Ill./Rolling Meadows) and Kim Butler (Palatine, Ill/Palatine) each put down three kills in the set.

In the third set, Jillian Hoffman (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) put down five kills for a career-high nine kills in the match. Hoffman nearly notched a triple-double as she also had eight digs and 14 assists. Adriana Loiacono (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) put down four kills in the final set, and Alyssia Dugo (Algonquin, Ill. /Jacobs) was 6-of-6 serving.

Up next for the Hawks is the UW-Whitewater Volleyball Invitational on Saturday. Harper plays Elmhurst College JV at 10 AM, Joliet Junior College at 12 PM and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater JV at 4 PM.
