ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Harper College women's basketball team struggled in their N4C opener at No. 4 Rock Valley College on Wednesday night, losing 91-36.

The Hawks (6-10, 0-1 N4C) fell into a 38-17 hole at halftime and could never rebound. Joslyn Nicholson (/Cary-Grove) paced Harper with 14 points and eight rebounds before fouling out with nine minutes left. Lane Winkler (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Ashonte Sims (/Normal Community West) had eight points and seven rebounds.

The Golden Eagles (12-5, 1-0 N4C) had four players in double figures, led by Ashley Seaton with 20 points and six assists. Samantha Rundblade scored 19 points, and Yowana Posey and Brianna Davis each had 14.

Harper shot just 25 percent (14-of-56) from the floor compared to 52.7 percent (39-of-74) for Rock Valley. The Hawks committed 26 turnovers  and lost the rebounding battle, 44-29.

Next up for Harper is a trip to Triton College (1-16, 0-1 N4C). Tipoff is set for 1 PM on Saturday in River Grove.
