PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College volleyball team swept visiting Triton College on Tuesday night inside the Wellness & Sports Center, 25-7, 25-10, and 25-8.

In the first, Sarah Berggren (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) starred on offense as she was 9-of-9 hitting with seven kills. Setter Katelyn Sommers (/Buffalo Grove) played a solid set with 12 assists and a 6-of-6 serving effort with an ace. Defensively, Kayla Mayer (/Wauconda) led the Hawks (22-10, 7-2 N4C) with seven digs.

Harper held leads of 4-1, 14-4, and 15-6 on the way to a 25-10 win in the second set. Daniele Sortino (Elk Grove Village, Ill. /Elk Grove) put down four kills while Sommers was 7-of-7 serving with two aces, two kills, and eight assists.

The Hawks played another strong third set, building a 12-4 lead on the way to a 25-8 win. Anna Bielinski (/Fremd) was 6-of-6 hitting with three kills in the set, and Debra Miller (/Marian Catholic) played stout defense with four digs. Mayer served a strong game, going 11-of-12 with two aces.
