ELGIN, Ill. – The Harper College women's basketball team opened its 2015-16 season with a 64-54 road loss at the Elgin Community College Spartans on Saturday evening.

Harper (0-1) led 26-25 at halftime. Kim Herzog (/Buffalo Grove) paced Harper with 18 points, including two 3-pointers and 4-of-5 shooting from the foul line. Jackie Stroud (Norridge, Ill. /Ridgewood), Mary Saitta (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates), and Lane Winkler (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) each chipped in seven points.

The Hawks had a hard time containing the Elgin (1-0) duo of Patricia Dumoulin and Clarissa Ramos. Dumoulin scored 22 points while Ramos also scored 22. Dumoulin's sister, Rebecca, added eight points.

Harper opens its home slate this coming Tuesday (Nov. 3) against Prairie State College (0-0). Tipoff is set for 5 PM inside the Wellness & Sports Center.
