Harper Falls in OT at Morton

CICERO, Ill. – The Harper College women's basketball team played its first overtime game of the 2015-16 season on Tuesday night at Morton College. Unfortunately, it was the host Panthers (1-3) who prevailed with a 71-64 victory over the Hawks (1-4).

Morton led 16-9 after one quarter, but Harper scored 19 points in the second period to cut the Panther lead to 32-28. The Hawks outscored their opponents 16-9 in the third and led 44-41 heading into the fourth. Morton had the edge in the fourth quarter and forced overtime, with the score tied at 55-55 at the end of regulation.

The Panthers outscored the Hawks 16-9 to pick up the victory. For Harper, Kim Herzog (/Buffalo Grove) and Jackie Stroud (Norridge, Ill. /Ridgewood) both had double-doubles of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Lexi Zades (/Conant) scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting, and Lane Winkler (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) added six points and eight rebounds.

Morton was led by Kelsey Rasore, who scored a game-high 17 points. Dana Kraft scored 16 points, and Chelsea Martinez and Jasmine Hawkins each added 10.

Harper travels to Ancilla College (5-1) on Saturday for 1 PM game. The two teams last met on Dec. 18, 2014 inside the Wellness & Sports Center, a game won 70-68 by the Chargers.
