Box Score 2 PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College women's basketball team played tough strong opponents on the road on Thursday and Saturday. In the first game, the Hawks dropped an 82-47 decision to the No. 13 (D2) Kankakee Community College Cavaliers. Harper (2-8) traveled to Ancilla College on Saturday and lost 93-62 to the Chargers.
Harper College at Kankakee Community College
The Hawks had a hard time containing a potent Kankakee (8-1) offense. Harper trailed 47-28 at the half to the nationally-ranked Cavaliers.
As a team, the Hawks shot 30.8 percent (16-of-52) from the field and 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the foul line. The Cavaliers shot 41.3 percent (31-of-75) from the floor and 86.7 percent (13-of-15) from the free throw line.
No Harper player reached double figures in scoring, with Mary Saitta (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) leading the way with nine points. Jackie Stroud (Norridge, Ill. /Ridgewood) and Tamara Zivak (/Barrington) scored eight points apiece. Tanzania Sherrill led Kankakee with a game-high 18 points.
Harper College at Ancilla College
This was a makeup game from Nov. 21, a game that was cancelled due to inclement weather. Ancilla (10-2) led 44-37 at half but pulled away for a 93-62 victory behind the strong play of Khadijah Moore (game-high 26 points) and Bianca Osas-Maxwell (23 points, 18 rebounds).
Tamara Zivak (/Barrington) led the Hawks with a career-high 13 points (6-of-10) shooting and seven rebounds. Mary Saitta (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) and Ashonte both scored 11 points. Kim Herzog (/Buffalo Grove), Jackie Stroud (Norridge, Ill. /Ridgewood), and Lexi Zades (/Conant) chipped in nine points apiece.
