PALATINE, Ill. – Despite falling into a big hole early, the Harper College men's basketball team clawed back and only trailed visiting College of DuPage 40-33 at halftime. However, the Chaparrals' depth wore down the Hawks in the second half as they picked up an 82-60 victory inside the Wellness & Sports Center.

College of DuPage (14-4, 2-2 N4C) surged to an 18-4 lead in the first 6 ½ minutes, but Harper (10-10, 1-3 N4C) slowly cut into the lead. Allias Burnett (Joliet, Ill. /Joliet West) drilled four 3-pointers and had 16 points before halftime, and Marcus Dover (/Conant) played well with 12 points (6-of-8 shooting) and five rebounds. Burnett's free throws right before halftime cut the Chaparral lead to 40-33.

College of DuPage came out of the locker room reenergized, using a 17-4 run to take a 57-37 lead with 13:49 to play. Harper would not get closer than within 17 points the rest of the way. DuPage had 15 players see action in the game. Christian Mathis led the team with 18 points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes, and Moter Deng had 17 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes.  The Chapparals shot 50 percent (34-of-68) from the floor.

Burnett led the Hawks in scoring with 25 points. Dover posted a double-double of 22  points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Marcus Gatlin (Chicago, Ill./Curie) added 11 points and six rebounds. The Hawks shot 41.2 percent (21-of-51) from the floor.

Harper will look to get its second conference win of the year on Wednesday evening against No. 9 Joliet Junior College (14-5, 3-1 N4C). The Wolves are coming off a 70-66 upset victory on Saturday over No. 1 and previously unbeaten Rock Valley College.
