Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Harper College basketball team led for most of the first half in Saturday afternoon's N4C tilt with Milwaukee Area Technical College. But Milwaukee closed the half on a 12-4 run to take a five-point advantage into the locker room. The Stormers carried over the momentum into the second half and shot an incredible 64.1 percent from the field in the game on the way to a 100-73 victory over the Hawks.
Harper (10-12, 1-5 N4C) was in a good rhythm offensively in the early going. Marcus Gatlin (Chicago, Ill./Curie)'s layup with 8:35 left in the half gave the Hawks a 28-21 edge. The Hawks maintained their lead until Nathan Melchior nailed a 3-pointer with 2:17 left to give the Stormers (17-4, 4-2 N4C) their first lead of the game, 39-37. They took a 45-40 lead at halftime.
Milwaukee continued its impressive shooting display in the second half. The Stormers were 41-of-64 from the floor, and 13 different players scored. Evan Burlingame led the team with 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting. Austin Dunbar scored 14.
A trio of Hawks players scored 20 or more points. Gatlin scored 23 points (10-of-17 shooting), and Abdul Mushtaq (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) buried seven 3-pointers and scored 21. Finally, freshman forward Marcus Dover (/Conant) had 20 points (9-of-15 shooting) and six assists.
Harper returns to the Wellness & Sports Center Wednesday for a conference matchup with Madison College (7-13, 1-5 N4C) at 7 PM.
