PALATINE, Ill. – Earlier this week, two Harper College basketball players were honored as NJCAA Region IV Players of the Week. Harper women's basketball guard Jackie Stroud (Norridge, Ill. /Ridgewood) and men's basketball point guard Marcus Gatlin (Chicago, Ill./Curie) both earned the distinction on the same day, marking the second time this year that each player has been recognized by the region.
In games against College of Lake County and Kennedy-King College, Stroud scored 19.0 PPG to go along with 5.0 RPG and 2.5 APG. She was 14-of-32 from the field and 7-of-18 in the two contests.
Gatlin helped the Hawks to a win over College of Lake County by scoring 23 points (6-of-10 field goals, 11-of-13 free throws) with two rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Stroud last earned Region IV Div. III Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors back on Dec. 7. Gatlin was also named NJCAA Region IV Div. III Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Dec. 14.
