Box Score

Palatine, Ill- The Harper College men's basketball team had a chance to steal its first win of the season on Tuesday night, but a last second attempt fell short for the Hawks (0-5) in the 81-83 affair against McHenry County College.

After Harper called timeout with 5 seconds remaining in the contest, the Hawks had a chance to draw up their final play of the night. Inbounding from the sidecourt, Harper found a baseline streaking Joey Gatziolis (12 points, 9 rebounds) who was unable to turn towards the rim because of solid defense by the Scots and had to settle for a tough turnaround jump-shot that would fall short.

Both sides combined for 48 fouls in what turned out to be a physical battle down the stretch. The physical play benefited the Scots more on the night, however, as they converted for ten more points from the line than the Hawks on the night. In fact, the Scots shot 15 more free throws than the Hawks overall.

Harper was led by freshman center, Chima Oduocha, who scored 17 points (4 rebounds) on 8-9 shooting.

The Scots received a big performance from Tyler Lewis who tallied 34 points on the night, including 7 threes.

The Hawks will hit the road on Nov. 12 to face-off against Richard J. Daley College in a 3PM tip.
