GLEN ELLYN, Ill. – The Harper College women's basketball team came close to claiming its first N4C win of the season on Wednesday night at College of DuPage. The Hawks and Chaparrals went back-and-forth in the fourth quarter, but DuPage prevailed 69-67.
Harper (4-20, 0-9 N4C) was led by Tamara Zivak (Barrington, Ill. /Barrington), who matched a season-high with 25 points on 10-of -15 shooting. Ashonte Sims (Bloomington, Ill. /Normal Community West) contributed 13 points and six rebounds, and Kim Herzog (/Buffalo Grove) and Lane Winkler (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) each scored nine. The Hawks led 30-24 at halftime. They shot 34.8 percent (23-of-66) as a team.
College of DuPage (9-14, 2-8 N4C) got 16 points from Jamie McInerney and 14 from Colleen Honn. Elinor Cycenas and Lauren Carroll both scored 12. The Chaparrals shot 32.1 percent (25-of-78) on the night.
The Hawks will look to get their first conference win at Joliet Junior College (13-11, 4-5 N4C) on Saturday evening. Tipoff is set for 5 PM in the A.A. Wills Gymnasium.
