PALATINE, Ill.- Another night, another win in straight sets for Harper College volleyball. The Hawks handled Triton College in what looked to be a back and forth affair in the beginning.
Harper broke out to an early 7-3 lead, but the Trojans quickly erased the deficit tying the game at 7-7. The score would remain tied until 10-10, before
Kathryn Novy (/Dundee-Crown) broke the game open with superb serving (13 for 14 serving, 3 aces). The Hawks ran off 13 straight points during Novy's service, building a 23-10 lead. Harper closed the set out 25-12.
Carrying their momentum into the second set, Harper opened up a 10-3 advantage.
Ellie Burzlaff (/Harvest Christian) was relentless on the attack for the Hawks, helping them build a 22-9 lead. The set would finish 25-10 in favor of Harper.
The final set would be a battle for both sides. Tied five separate times, the Hawks finally pulled away after being knotted up 20-20 with the Trojans.
Hannah Moore (/Schaumburg) (6 for 6) was perfect in the service game for the Hawks, and again Burzlaff found success in the attack (4 kills). The final tally read 25-21.
Next up for Harper is the Rochester Community & Technical College Volleyball Invitational in Rochester, MN on Sept. 9-10. The Hawks will play four games in two days, beginning Friday with Anoka-Ramsey Community College (0-1) at 3PM followed by Williston State College (2-3) at 5PM.
On Saturday Harper will battle Ellsworth Community College (3-7) at 9AM and Central Lakes College-Brainerd (4-1) at 1PM.
