Palatine, Ill- Stout defense coupled with efficient offense led the Harper College men's basketball team to its sixth win of the season Wednesday night.

The Hawks (6-13, 1-2 N4C) cruised all evening in what was their best effort of the year. By halftime Harper led College of Dupage (1-13, 1-2 N4C) by 13 points and, for good measure, outscored them in the second half by 11 more winning 83-59.

Four Hawks scored in double digits led by Isaiah Butler (/Elgin)'s 19 points (7-11 FG's). Freshman center, Chima Odoucha added 12 points (4-7 FG's) and seven rebounds.

Despite falling behind 7-0 early in the contest Harper quickly battled back and took its first lead on a Brent Cook's three pointer with 12:15 seconds left in the first half. From that point forward the Hawks never relinquished their lead. Defensively, Harper forced College of DuPage to shoot just 37 percent from the field in comparison to Harper's 45.6 percent.

The Chaparrals could not keep pace in the second half and at one point trailed by a whopping 28 points. College of DuPage's high scorer was Tyler Scott with 13 points (5-11 FG's).

Harper also benefited from efficient free throw shooting converting on 13 of 15 attempts (86.7 percent) on the evening.

The Hawks will welcome the Trojans of Triton College to Palatine on Jan.14. Tip-off is set for 3PM. Harper dropped both of its matchups to Triton last season.
