Box Score PALATINE, IL- The Harper College women's basketball team traveled to Grayslake to take on the College of Lake County Lancers on Saturday. After trailing for more than 30 minutes in the game, the Hawks were able to come back for a 52-49 victory.
After finishing Thursday's game with a total of 6 points in the fourth, the Hawks rolled into CLC with the same shooting struggles as they trailed 13-6 after the first ten minutes of play. The Hawks pulled it together in the second, putting up 15 points to head into the half trailing 26-21. At the break, the Hawks were led by
Angelina Villasin's 10 points and
Ashley Shapiro's 8 rebounds.
The third quarter was a turning point for the Hawks as they shot an efficient 50% from the field and 4-5 from behind the arc and put up 20 points in the quarter. The Hawks took their first lead of the game 1:00 minute to go in the third but trailed by 1 heading into the fourth. Harper played strong defense and kept control of the ball well in the fourth as they totaled 4 steals, 2 blocks, 2 assists, and only 4 turnovers on their way to the victory. Harper outscored CLC 31-23 in the second half before coming away with the 52-49 win.
Angelina Villasin led the Hawks for the second straight game with 27 points, while
Ashley Shapiro had 15 rebounds.Â
Maggie O'Donnell had 5 assists and
Sydney Heinrich contributed 4 steals on the defensive end.
With the win, the Hawks move to 3-8 on the year. Their next game will be Saturday as the Hawks travel to St. Louis Community College for a 3pm tip-off.
