Box Score PALATINE, IL-  The Harper College women's basketball team hosted the College of DuPage Chaparrals on Wednesday at Robert Morris University.  The Hawks jumped above .500 in N4C play with a 68-32 win.

In a game where the Hawks needed to bounce back from a tough loss against Rock Valley, the first quarter did not start the way Harper wanted.  The game was scoreless for almost 4 minutes before Angelina Villasin made a layup for the 2-0 lead.  The scoring picked up from there as the first quarter closed with the Hawks leading 14-3.  Harper used the athleticism and quickness of their guards to speed up the offense as Abbey Sloan and Villasin turned steals into easy layups on multiple occasions.  The Hawks also fed Kaela Drum multiple times down low and in the high post where they let her go to work. At halftime, the Hawks built a 20 point lead, 38-18.  Harper shot 43% from the field and held COD to 25% while also forcing 20 turnovers.

The second half started off slowly again as the Hawks did not record their first field goal until 3 minutes into the third on a layup from Sydney Heinrich.  Another 2 minutes would pass before either team scored, this time on a nice post move from Drum.  At the end of the third, the Hawks still held a sizable lead at 52-24.  Despite the big lead, the Hawks continued to apply defensive pressure on the Chaparrals.  Harper caused 8 COD turnovers in the fourth and were able to finish the 68-32 win.

The final score did not tell the whole story for the Hawks, as they only shot 39% from the field while also turning the ball over 21 times.  Ball control will continue to be a point of emphasis for the Hawks as they look to improve on shot selection and press break.  Villasin led all scorers with 30 points while 3 more Hawks finished in double digits.  Drum led the team with 9 rebounds and Sloan led the team with 5 assists and 8 steals.

The Hawks move to 5-12 overall and 2-1 in N4C play.  Harper will travel to face the Triton Trojans on Saturday.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1pm in River Grove.
