Box Score PALATINE, IL- The #2 ranked Harper College volleyball team hosted the first regular season match in the new Health and Recreation Center on Tuesday night against Joliet Junior College. The Hawks swept the Wolves in straight sets to begin N4C play.

The first N4C match of the year started with 6 ties before Joliet eventually took a three-point lead. Harper was able to come back behind strong serving from
Gabby Fugle (Island Lake/Wauconda) to make the score 12-12. After a 16-16 tie, the Hawks were able to pull away and eventually finish off a 25-19 first set victory.Â
Carlene Colton (Lake in the Hills/Huntley),
Lydia Schiller (Hoffman Estates/Classical Consortium Academy), and Fugle all notched 3 kills, while
Kathleen Gueco (Hanover Park/Hoffman Estates) had 10 assists, and
Karolina Sas (Palatine/Fremd) had 10 digs.

Set two had far less drama than the first. After a quick 2-2 tie, the Hawks took leads of 7-4, 13-6, and 22-9 before ending with a 25-15 win.Â
Kayla Agoranos (Hampshire/Hampshire),
Ashley Rothenberg (Streamwood/Streamwood), and Colton each had 3 kills and Gueco had another 10 assists. In addition to her kills, Colton was a perfect 10-10 serving with an ace and also added 5 digs.

The third set saw more of the same as Abby Wemple's first college kill gave the Hawks a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the set. Harper was able to finish off Joliet with a 25-12 set three win. Wemple and
Kyla Daczewitz (Bartlett/Bartlett) had 4 kills apiece while Gueco tallied a season high 14 assists. Agoranos led the way with 7 digs.

Harper had a three way tie for kills in the match as Agoranos, Colton, and Schiller all finished with 6. The Hawks served at an astonishing 95% clip, which included 8 aces. Schiller was a force at the net with 3.5 blocks while Sas led the defense with 14 digs. Gueco finished the match with 34 assists.

With the victory, the Hawks move to 4-1 (1-0 N4C) on the year. Harper's next match will continue on Thursday as the Hawks travel to N4C opponent Triton College. The match is slated to begin at 6pm.
