Box Score PALATINE, IL- The Harper College women's volleyball team hosted the Elgin Community College Spartans on Thursday night. The Hawks came away with the victory in straight sets.

After an early 1-1 tie, Harper expanded their lead to 10-6 before hot service hand
Ella Roland (Elgin/Larkin) took her turn at the line. Roland led the Hawks to 5 straight service points on the way to a 25-13 victory in the first set of the night. A couple of early lucky breaks rewarded the Hawks with a 4-2 lead early before going on a small run to bring the score to 10-5. Harper remained in control, taking set two 25-14.Â
Kayla Agoranos (Hampshire/Hampshire) got the third set started with 6 straight service points. Harper built an eight-point lead at 11-3 before Elgin made things interesting with a mini comeback. The Spartans brought the score to 23-17 before the Hawks eventually finished the set and match with a 25-19 win.

Lydia Schiller (Hoffman Estates/Classical Consortium Academy) and
Kayla Agoranos (Hampshire/Hampshire) tied for a team-high 8 kills while
Gabby Fugle (Island Lake/Wauconda) and
Kyla Daczewitz (Bartlett/Bartlett) chipped in 7 apiece. Harper had 11 aces as a team, led by Agoranos' 4. Fugle was also a force on the defensive side of the net, accounting for 3.5 of the Hawks' 4 team blocks.Â
Karolina Sas (Palatine/Fremd) had a strong defensive game with 21 digs. Daczewitz and Agoranos contributed 13 and 10, respectively. The Hawks welcomed back
Kathleen Gueco (Hanover Park/Hoffman Estates) who had 14 assists. Agoranos led the team with 17 of her own while finishing 2 kills short of a triple-double.

Bob Vilsoet felt that it was a strong team victory saying "Tonight felt good. Everyone on the roster played in this match and played well."

The Hawks now move to 10-7 on the season. After a rare weekend off, the Hawks will host N4C opponent Milwaukee Area Technical College on Tuesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 6pm.
