Palatine, IL:  It was Sophomore night tonight against Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers.  Sophomores honored are Kathleen Alimorong (/Hoffman Estates H.S.) setter/right side; Ashley Rothenberg (/Streamwood H.S.) outside Hitter; and Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) Right Side/Libero.

In the first set, Harper College started out ahead 7-0 behind Sophomore setter Kathleen Alimorong (/Hoffman Estates H.S.).  But Milwaukee Stormed back to a cut the lead to 10-8.  Harper extended the lead again to 15-8 behind strong serving from Sophmore Ashley Rothenberg (/Streamwood H.S.).  Then Harper extended to 17-9 and won 25-19.  Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) had 4 kills.  Rugile Jaciunas (/Wheeling H.S.) and Rachel Kandefer (/Elk Grove H.S.) each had 3 kills.  Sophomore Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) had 2 kills on 6 attacks.  Setter Kathleen Alimorong (/Hoffman Estates H.S.) had 10 assists.Jules Carusiello (/Hersey H.S.) had 6 digs; Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) had 5 digs, and Ashley Rothenberg (/Streamwood H.S.) had 5 digs.  Ahley Rothenberg also was 6-7 serving with 2 aces.

In the second set, Harper took leads of 4-1, and 11-4.  Then Ashley Rothenberg (/Streamwood H.S.) got hot from the service line again and took Harper to a 16-5 lead.  It was a 20-8 Harper lead when the Milwaukee outside hitter had an awesome attack land near Harper's back line.  But Harper went on to extend the lead to 24-10 and a 25-12 win.  Harper scored points in other ways in this set…  Kathleen Alimorong (/Hoffman Estates H.S.) had just 5 assists, and Harper had just 8 kills.  Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) had 7 digs.  Kathleen Alimorong (/Hoffman Estates H.S.) was 7-7 serving with 3 aces.  Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) was 5-5 serving with 3 aces as well.

In the third set, more of the same; Harper led 6-2 when setter Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) dig a nice tip with a pancake, but the ref said the ball hit the floor.  Harper led 11-9 and then extended to 19-12 on the way to a 25-18 win.  Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) had 3 more kills while setter Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 8 assists.  Rachel Kanderfer had 3 blocks and Rugile Jaciunas (/Wheeling H.S.) added another block.  Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) playing libero this set had 7 digs.  Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) was 9-10 serving with 2 aces.

Next up:  Harper goes to Triton College on Thursday, 10/17.  Game time is 6:00 p.m.  If Harper wins, Harper will clinch the N4C Conference Championship.
