Harper College took on Madison Colleges Wolfpack last night
The Hawks finished in three sets:
Set 1: Harper found itself far behind at 5-12.
"We were not playing too badly, but Madison was firing on all cylinders. Then the game started to turn around…" Head Coach
Bob Vilsoet said. The game score went to 10-15; then quickly a tie at 17-17. Harper continued with 5 consecutive points to lead 22-17, and a 25-18 win.
In the Set:
Kelsey Bauer (/Palatine H.S.) was 12-12 serving with 3 aces and 4 digs.
Setter
Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 7 assists and 6 digs.
Rachel Kandefer (/Elk Grove H.S.) had 3 kills on 7 attacks and a block.
Natalie Asa (/Schaumburg H.S.) had 3 kills on 7 attacks.
Set 2: Harper started out 4-0, then missed a serve; and extended the lead to 6-0, then missed another serve. Harper led 8-3 and 8-4, when
Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) started serving and next thing you know Harper was leading 18-5. Harper extended to 21-6 when Harper hit another serve out; but went on to win 25-14.
In the Set:
Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) was 10-10 serving with 2 aces.
Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) added 8 assists and 4 digs.
Kelsey Bauer (/Palatine H.S.) had 5 kills.
Ashley Rothenberg (/Streamwood H.S.) got into the fray with 3 kills and a block.
Set 3: Harper started out strong at 5-0; and predictably missed another serve. Madison didn't take too long to tie the score at 5-5, and then continued on their 8-point run of their own to lead 5-8. Harper tied the score quickly at 8-8, 9-9 and 10-10. Harper took a 13-10 lead, then 18-13 on the way to a 25-18 win.
In the Set:
Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) was 8-10 with 3 aces, 7 assists and 2 digs.
Rachel Kandefer (/Elk Grove H.S.) had 3 kills and 1.5 blocks.
Overall, setter
Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 22 assists and led Harper with 12 digs for another double-double.

Harper Colleges next event will be the College of DuPage Invitational on 8/30:
Starting @5:00 p.m. versus Black Hawk Community College, followed by their night cap starting @7:00 p.m. versus #9 Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
On Saturday at College of DuPage 8/31:
Harper College will start the day off against #4 Rochester Community and Technical College, and followed by St. Cloud Technical and Community College at 2:00 p.m.
