Box Score

Tuesday, September 24, 6:00 p.m. at Harper College.

College of DuPage visited Harper tonight.  In prior meetings, College of DuPage went 5 sets with both Madison (and lost in 5), and with Rock Valley (won in 5).  Plus, College of DuPage just came back from a road trip from Dallas and played excellent teams there, including D1's Blinn. Jessica Smith's (West Chicago/West Chicago) sister is playing on COD's team.  Jessica was a Harper College 2018 defensive specialist.  After Harper, Jessica is playing now at Judson University in Elgin.

In the first set, Harper jumped out to a 5-2 lead, but lost that lead as quick as Harper got it, so the score was tied at 7-7 early on; and then at 14-14 and 15-15.  Harper extended to a 3-point lead at 18-15 when COD called a time out.  The score tightened up at 20-18 and 22-19, but Harper scored the last 3 points to win 25-19.  Rachel Kandefer (/Elk Grove H.S.) had 5 kills and 4 rejections in this set.  Rugile Jaciunas (/Wheeling H.S.) had 3 rejections, but one block.  Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 10 assists.  Playing right side, Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) added 2 kills, and Rugile Jaciunas (/Wheeling H.S.) had 2 kills.  Rugile was 8-8 serving.  Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) had 7 digs.

In the second set, after a lineup change, Harper took a 4-0 lead, but let it slip to 5-4, but then extended to 12-7 when COD took another time out.  Harper maintained the lead at 15-10, and then extended to 21-11 and on to a 25-12 win.  Rachel Kandefer (/Elk Grove H.S.) had 3 kills on 4 attacks.  Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 7 assists. Rugile took blocking to the next level and had 3 blocks.  Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) took serving to the next level and was 10-10 serving with 3 aces.  Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) was 4-4 serving with 3 aces.

The third set was closer again, and a new lineup again… there were ties at 8-8, and 9-9, and again at 13-13.  Harper's Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) went back to serve 9 times including an ace and suddenly Harper had a 21-15 lead on the way to a 25-20 win.  Kelsey Bauer (/Palatine H.S.), back in the match, was on fire with 6 kills on 12 attacks.  Rachel Kandefer (/Elk Grove H.S.) had 2 kills and 2 blocks. Ashley Rothenberg (/Streamwood H.S.) added two more blocks, and Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) added 4 kills.  Defensively, playing libero, Kayla Agoranos (/Hampshire H.S.) had 8 digs. Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator), Kelsey Bauer (/Palatine H.S.) and Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) each had 4 digs.  Amelia Reiter (/Crystal Lake South H.S.) was 9-9 serving with an ace, all in a row.  Kathleen Alimorong (/Hoffman Estates H.S.) got loose for 5-5 serving with an ace.
