In the first set, Harper took a 7-2 lead and then 10-3 while playing on a cylinders. But, Illinois Valley caught up at 10-10 with their own stellar play while Harper airmailed a couple hits into the stratosphere. Harper got grounded again and took a 16-10 lead, and then a 25-16 win.

In the second set, Harper fell behind 1-6, and 3-7, but closed the gap to 8-10, and tied the score at 12-12, but promptly missed the next serve. The scores were tied again at 13-13, 16-16 and 17-17, before Harper took a slim but important 20-17 lead before winning 25-21.

In the third set, all seemed well as Harper lead early 8-4 and then 16-10. But Illinois Valley, playing well closed the gap to 20-19 and then 23-23, before defeated Harper 24-26Vicky Gorny had 6 kills on 8 attacks.

The fourth set became a barnburner with Illinois Valley's newfound confidence… scores were knotted at 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6… 16-16, 17-17, 19-19 and 21-21 before Harper eeked out a 25-22 win. Vicky Gorny had 5 more kills for a seemingly effortless match-high 16 kills.
