The Men's Baseball team traveled out to Rockford this weekend, to take on N4C companion Rock Valley College.Â
The Hawks gave the Golden Eagles a run for their money in game one. The Golden Eagles got out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd. But the Hawks battled back with strong plate appearances by Joey Fitzgerald 3H (1HR) 3RBI, Thomas Sabo (/Fort Collins High School) 1H 2RBI and Angelo Lisciandrello (/Marther High School) 2H 2RBI. In the bottom of the 6th the score slipped away from the Hawks but fought in the top of the 7th adding 2 runs.
The Hawks lost 16-10 to RVC in Game one of the double header.
In game two of the double header the bats stayed energized for the Hawks, putting up a season's best 24 runs on the board. It was the Hawks turn in the top of the 2nd inning to jump out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back, adding 9 of the 24 runs in the top of the 4th. At the plate (in game two) Derek Elicier (/Sunlake High School (FL)), Joey Fitzgerald and Daniel LaRosa () all individually had 4 hits each.
Jimmy Cisneros (/Buffalo Grove High School) earned 3 walks and Micah O'Neal (/Guerin Prep) batted in 5 runs for the Hawks!
Kevin Bielat (/Maine South High School) took down 16 Golden Eagles from the bump and setup William Alderson for the completion in relief. Bielat secured the Win for game two.
The Hawks will close out the regular season against another NC4 opponent Milwaukee Area Technical College. In a double header on May 4th at MATC. Â
