Box Score Grayslake, IL  August 28th 2021

On an extremely hot Saturday to kick off the season opener, Hawks faced the Lancers away on the pitch. The Hawks were able to find the opening goal in the 11th minute. When Osvaldo Rodriguez was able to convert a turnover into a goal. The Hawks played extremely hard and well, considering the heat, for the next 15-20 minutes. During that time the team should have had chipped in 3 more goals, but the CLC goalie played incredible. He was saving shots left-and-right, up-and-down. In the 39th minute, on a pass back to our goalie Kyle Varela, made a bad touch and turned the ball over. This resulted in a foul to the opposing player giving up a penalty kick which was converted on by the Lancers.

In the Second half, the same story continued, many great chances at the goal but the CLC goalie continued to make save after save. Finally the Hawks broke through and scored in the 69th minute. Luiz Vazquez made a nice pass to Tyler Dawson who finished a smooth goal off the post. With 7 minutes left in the game, CLC was able to convert on a header to tie the game. The first overtime saw a few chances for the Hawks, but it only took a minute and 34 seconds into the second overtime for  Aaron Bustamante to end the game with a nice finish far post.

Kyle Varela, went the distance in goal, playing the whole game and ended up with 1 save.

The Hawks will take on Conference Rival Joliet Junior College September 4th at 12pm in Joliet, IL
