Chicago, IL:  Harper College traveled to North Park University to play their JV team for a match. 

In the first set, Harper jumped out to a strong 7-1 lead behind Taylor Pfaller's (/St. Viator) serves.  Harper continued to pull away at 10-3, 14-5, 19-9… for a 25-14 win.  In the first set, Katie Hofmann (/Elk Grove) led Harper with 5 kills on 6 attacks.  Cassie Schweikle (/Glenbard East) added 3 kills on 5 attacks.  Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 12 assists on Harper's 12 kills and was 9-9 serving with 3 aces.  Alyssa Rodda (/Barrington) playing libero had 5 digs. 

In the second set, there was a VERY long rally at 1-2.  Obviously, North Park was getting the hang of this match… the score was tied at 3-3… but Harper took a commanding 11-6 lead, then 17-8;  at 19-11 there was another very long rally.  Harper extended the lead to 22-14 for a 25-18 win.  Vicky Gorny got hot in this set with 5 kills.  Natalia Smiech (/Dundee-Crown) added 4 more kills on 12 swings and no errors.  Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 10 assists on Harper's 12 kills.  Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 6 digs, and libero Alyssa Rodda (/Barrington) had 5 digs.  Katie Hofmann (/Elk Grove), playing middle had 5 digs and was 7-8 serving.  Vicky Gorny had 5 digs, as well.

In the third set, Harper jumped out again 5-2, then 12-6, 20-14 before winning 25-15.  Katie Hofmann (/Elk Grove) added 4 more kills for a team high tie 10 kills for the match.  Vicky Gorny added 4 kills and 10 for the match.  Taylor Pfaller (/St. Viator) had 12 assists again, this time on 15 kills for Harper College.  Alyssa Rodda (/Barrington) had another 6 digs for a team high 16 digs.  Jocelyn Mercado (/Schaumburg) added 5 digs.  Jocelyn Mercado (/Schaumburg) was 7-7 serving with an ace.

Harper served 94% for the match, with 60 digs (20.0 digs/set), and 39 kills (13.0 kills/set), while hitting 25% efficiency.  Harper served up 10 aces, but only got credit for 1 block.

Harper's next match will be a tournament at Joliet Jr. College on Saturday/Sunday, September 11/12.  Harper opens up against D1 Kaskaskia in this 16-team field.  That Kaskaskia match will be at 3:00 p.m.  Win or lose, Harper then plays at 7:00 p.m., and then Sunday at 9:00 a.m.  The last match on Sunday will be either at 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.
