Palatine, IL:  Harper struggled against Moraine Valley.

In the first set Harper fell way behind at 4-10, but caught up instantly at 10-10… then 11-11, 13-13 and 15-15. But the wheels fell off and Harper fell behind again 17-22 and lost 19-25.  Stacey Maimur had some nice middle attacks leading Harper with 3 kills on 9 attacks.  Setter Gabby Elbrecht (Owings, MD/Northern H.S.) had 9 assists.  Alyssa Rodda (Inverness/Barrington H.S.) was terrific on defense with 11 digs.  Natalia Smiech (Sleepy Hollow/Dundee-Crown H.S.) added 7 digs.  Alyssa Rodda (Inverness/Barrington H.S.) was 5-5 serving with an ace.
 

In the second set, Harper was tied at 1-1, 2-2 and 4-4, and led 10-7 and 12-9 before Moraine Valley tied the score at 13-13.  Then Moraine Valley went on to win 18-25.  Natalia Smiech (Sleepy Hollow/Dundee-Crown H.S.) led Harper with 3 kills.  Setter Gabby Elbrecht (Owings, MD/Northern H.S.) had 9 assists.  Alyssa Rodda (Inverness/Barrington H.S.) led Harper again with 5 digs.  Asia Williams (Hoffman Estates/Conant H.S.) served 4 times and had 2 aces.
 

In the last set, with a new lineup, Harper started out okay at 2-2 and 3-3, but after 21 fatal unforced errors, Harper could only muster an 8-25 loss.  Harper only had 5 kills in this entire set, and Tess O'Gara (Chicago/Resurrection H.S.) had 2 of them.  Cana Jones (Walton, IN/Lewis Cass H.S.), playing libero, led Harper with 5 digs. 

Harper College mustered zero blocks in this match.  This was a similar result as Elgin on Tuesday, where Harper had 2 blocks the entire 5-set match.
