D3 "Others" Harper College lost to Milwaukee Area Technical College 19-25, 28-30, 16-25

Well, it finally happened. After 31 consecutive wins dating back 15 years to the first meeting between these two teams back in 2007;  Harper finally lost.  And Harper really lost this match!

The first set was a 19-25 loss.  The score was knotted 5 times up to 10-10.  Harper fell behind 16-20 on the way to this 19-25 loss.  Natalia Smiech (Sleepy Hollow/Dundee-Crown H.S.) did muster 3 kills and 5 digs, and was 6-6 serving with an ace.

The second set was exciting!  Harper had a 22-18 lead and missed a serve, then had a 24-20 lead, and missed a serve. Milwaukee tied the match at 24-24.  Harper missed another serve at 25-25.  There were more ties at 26-26, 27-27 and 28-28 before Milwaukee won the last 2 points for a 28-30 win over Harper College!  Both Cassie Schweikle (Lombard/Glenbard East H.S.) and Tess O'Gara (Chicago/Resurrection H.S.) each had 3 kills.  Cana Jones (Walton, IN/Lewis Cass H.S.) had 7 digs and was 5-6 serving.  There were 12 ties in this set up to 30 points.

The third set found a demoralized Harper team that fell behind 4-9, and 6-15.  Cana Jones (Walton, IN/Lewis Cass H.S.) did her best serving to catch up at 14-17, but Milwaukee was too much for Harper and Harper lost 16-25.  Brianna Spetka (Elk Grove/Conant H.S.) had 3 kills.  Natalia Smiech (Sleepy Hollow/Dundee-Crown H.S.) added another 5 digs.  Harper missed 10 serves in this match. 

Coach Bob Vilsoet said, "I don't think we'll be using those lineups again any time soon."
