Box Score D3 Harper College defeated D2 Milwaukee Area Technical College -Â 25-19, 25-22, 25-16
Tuesday, August 23, 2022; Alverno College, Milwaukee, WI: Harper Volleyball traveled to Milwaukee; same day as the 2024 Presidential Election cycle's first primary debate. We expected traffic. There was none…we arrived very early.
In the first set, Harper volleyball, playing well, took a 9-3 lead, and held at 13-5, 19-14, and finally earned a 25-19 win. The set felt closer than the score. Milwaukee was also playing well.
Taylor Knuth had 3 kills and 2 blocks.
Maya Sokolowski added 2 kills.
Eden Suh had 2 blocks.
Regina Anelli had 8 digs, and was 7-7 serving with an ace.
Cana Jones added 5 digs.
Jones was also 7-7 serving with an ace.
The second set was a tale of two stories. Harper jumped out to an 11-5 lead, and extended that lead to 15-8. The tide inexplicably turned, and Harper was suddenly ahead just 16-14. The game stayed a 2-point affair at 17-15, 18-16, 19-17, when Harper eeked ahead again 22-19, and closed out with a 25-22 win.
Stacy Maimur led Harper with 3 kills.
Jones led Harper with 4 digs in this set.
Taylor Knuth (Arlington Heights/Glenbrook South H.S.) was on fire with her serves as she was 10-10 with 3 aces.
In the 3rd set, Harper took a 6-2 lead, and then Milwaukee called timeout; Harper extended to 8-2… then 10-3, 12-4, and 14-6. Milwaukee closed to 18-12 and 20-15, but Harper finished strong with a 25-16 win.
Knuth got hot with 6 kills, including 4 in a row.
Claudia Lysek came into the match and nailed 3 kills on 7 attacks.
Suh notched 10 assists for a  match-high 25 assists.
Jones, playing vacuum cleaner in the back row dug up 5 more digs and did another 7-7 serving thing with another ace.
Jones ended the match 15-16 with 2 aces and 14 digs. Not to be outdone,
Knuth added 3 more serves of her own in this set to go 18-18 serving with 2 aces.
Anelli finished 14-15 serving in this match with an ace, as well.
Next matches will be at College of DuPage on Friday 8/25 versus Joliet at 3:00 p.m. and against John A Logan College at 7:00 p.m. Then early on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. Harper plays Genesee, NY, and then the host team College of DuPage at 1:00 p.m.
