Pocica Sets Indoor Triple Jump Record at Chicagolands

Naperville, IL: The Hawks women's track and field team had a strong showing at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships on Friday, hosted by North Central College. Competing against 21 other schools, the Hawks continued to improve and make their mark on the program's indoor record books.

Leading the way as the Hawks Athlete of the Meet was
Natalia Pocica, who set a new indoor school record in the triple jump with a mark of 34' 11". She also competed on the track, running the 400m in 63.77.

In the sprints,
Perla Vargas and Zoe Pavlu both doubled up in the 60m and 200m. Vargas clocked times of 8.52 and 28.25, while Pavlu finished in 8.76 and 29.45. Delaney Gale also ran the 200m, posting a time of 27.80, which met the National Qualifying standard and moved her to 6th all-time indoors for Harper. Lucia Sanchez Scriven joined the group with a time of 29.92.

The Hawks also had standout performances in the jumps.
Sanchez Scriven cleared 8' 5.5" in the pole vault and long jumped 16' 5".

In the throws,
Hannah Schulz and Rose Wagner represented Harper in both the shot put and weight throw. Schulz had marks of 31' 4" in shot put and 35' 9.5"  in weight throw, while Wagner threw 25' 6.25" and 31' 3.75" in the respective events.

Several former Hawks competed at the meet as well, showcasing their talent at the next level.
Samira Rosenfeld delivered an outstanding performance for Northern Illinois University, winning the high jump with a personal best of 5'6". Meanwhile, five former Hawks represented North Central College, including Pola Kubrak, Brianna Ruiz, Arianna Teichman, Svetlozara Uvakova, and Lily Wintergerst, continuing their athletic success on the track and in the field.

With continued improvements across the board, the Hawks look to carry this momentum into their final two indoor meets. Up next, they return to North Central College for the F. Lee Slick Invitational on Friday.
