Hawks Battle Cold and Rain at Green & White Invite

Milwaukee, WI: The Harper Hawks braved tough conditions at the Green & White Invite in Wisconsin, competing through cold temperatures and steady rain that made for a challenging day on the track and in the field. Despite the elements, the team still turned in several strong performances and personal bests as they continue their push toward the postseason.

In the sprints, Perla Vargas and Zoe Pavlu lined up in the 100m. Vargas ran 13.25, while Pavlu set a personal best with a time of 13.31. Pavlu returned for the 200m, clocking 28.20. She was joined by Natalia Pocica and Lucia Sanchez Scriven, who ran 26.48 and 29.26, respectively. Pocica's time marked a new personal best and ranks her third nationally. Pocica also competed in the 400m, running 61.88. Delaney Gale (68.11) and Ashley Harrison (68.49) also represented the Hawks in the event.

In the 100m hurdles, Gale and Sanchez Scriven posted solid times of 16.29 and 17.28, respectively. Sanchez Scriven added a pole vault mark of 8' 10.25" and a triple jump of 33' 5.75". Pocica continued her dominance in the triple jump as well, hitting 35' 7.25", one of the top marks in the country.

In the throws, Hannah Schulz and Rose Wagner competed in shot put, discus, and hammer. Schulz recorded marks of 31' 9.5" in the shot, 103' 2" in discus, and 114' 9" in hammer. Wagner threw 30' 4.75", 99' 4", and 106' 3", and also added a javelin throw of 78' 6". Pavlu joined Wagner in the javelin, throwing 49' 5".

Despite the rain-soaked track and slippery field conditions, the Hawks showed resilience and depth across all events. They'll return to action this Friday at the Elmhurst Twilight Meet, looking to build on their performances and chase even more national qualifying marks.
