More Hawks Qualify at F. Lee Slick Invite

Naperville, IL: The Hawks women's track and field team put together another strong performance at the F. Lee Slick Invitational on Friday, competing at North Central's Al B. Carius Track. With nine athletes representing the team across sprints, distance, jumps, and throws, the Hawks made their mark with personal bests and a standout relay effort.

Sprints & Hurdles

Caitlin Basco led the way in the 200m, clocking an indoor personal best of 27.78 seconds, which met the national qualifying standard and secured her the fifth spot on the Hawks' all-time indoor list. Her performance earned her the Athlete of the Meet honors. Delaney Gale delivered consistent performances in both the 60m hurdles and 200m, while Zoe Pavlu continued to show steady improvement in the 200m. Perla Vargas had a strong meet, running a season-best 8.50 in the 60m and an indoor personal best of 28.00 in the 200m, moving up the Hawks' all-time indoor list in the 60m.

Distance & Jumps

Roza Puchalski took on the mile, while Natalia Pocica and Lucia Sanchez Scriven competed in the jumps. Puchalski set an indoor best with a time of 6:09.49. Pocica nearly matched her triple jump best from last week with a mark of 34' 10.5". Sanchez Scriven had a full day, vaulting 8' 0.75", long jumping 16' 3.25", and setting a personal best in the triple jump at 33' 8.5". She has been a consistent force for the Hawks this season.

Throws

Hannah Schulz and Rose Wagner both continued their efforts in the shot put and weight throw, building on their performances from previous meets.

Relay Highlight
The highlight of the meet came in the 1600m relay, where the Hawks ran their second race of the season in the event. With a slightly adjusted order from their last effort, the team of
Pocica, Vargas, Gale, and Basco put together an impressive race, finishing in 4:15.57—over six seconds faster than their previous time. The time is also the Hawks' third best all-time indoor.

The Hawks will have a week off from competition before closing out their indoor season at Carthage on March 7th.
